MWRT – 2025 – Final Post, home at last

We got up early in our Black Hawk cabin and said our goodbyes. We took one last picture of the place and off we drove. Home was over 900 miles away and we hoped to make it to Lubbock before 6 o’clock. We highly recommend the cabin in Black Hawk along with the other cabins we had stayed on our trip to Montana.

Exactly one month to the day after leaving home, we started our last leg of this epic journey, leaving Lubbock in the rear view mirror as they say (Mac Davis). Driving through Texas, so familiar, was quite a change from the last few weeks. But as the miles passed by I became happier and happier as I anticipated being home again to see my place, and be with my family, and friends. There will be some stories to share!

There were quite a few route possibilities for driving home from Lubbock but the GPS optimal route landed on passing through San Angelo Texas. Pretty soon we were down to the last hundred miles of this journey. Then Eden, Menard, Junction, Kerrville, Comfort, Boerne, and finally home.

I’d travelled 7,163 miles in 31 days, played Blackjack in 26 casinos for a total 67 hours, visited 4 national parks, and celebrated my 44th wedding anniversary. My route took me through 12 mid west states including six I’d never seen before. My Powerboost Ford F150 was so comfortable and smooth driving with the assisted cruise control and amazingly, drove over 1000 miles strictly on electric power.

We finally arrived home, 100 degrees outside, the main A/C unit had failed and wasn’t cooling, and I was so glad to be here. Fortunately, the AC was just a failed capacitor and it’s back up and running. I’m sure I’ll have more to say about this trip but that’s it for now. It was far more incredible than I had imagined it would be. For those who came along through my blog, I hope it was entertaining 🙂
