MWRT – 2025 – Summit Mountain Lodge, East Glacier
As a front blew through East Glacier we spent the morning enjoying the Lodge having coffee and tea and catching up on email and spent some time on my blog that morning. This was our final day in Glacier National Park before making the long drive back home to Texas. What a remarkable difference in environments, I have felt so blessed to visit this region of the country, especially this national park.

We packed up and checked out of the lodge and made our way to East Glacier park for one more day of hiking. I was planning to hike Two Medicine Upper Lake and Twin Falls. With the boat ride it would be four or five miles total hike. We arrived with minutes to spare to get tickets for the boat and were hoping there were two open seats. I went to the ticket booth while Kathy went to find the restrooms. I was in luck and secured 2 tickets but as soon as I walked to the dock to await Kathy’s return, the park ranger said we needed to board immediately as the boat was departing dead on the top of the hour and there were only a couple of minutes to spare.
I looked for Kathy but she was nowhere in sight. I didn’t want the tickets to go to waste as there was another couple whom were wanting to go. So, I offered my tickets and they gladly took them, paying me what I paid. So, C’est la vie, we chose a short hike around the lake to a nice overlook point instead. This was just right, we were sort of tired of hiking everyday anyway (we are not used to the routine so a shorter hike was great). Of course, everywhere we looked we saw new fauna and took a few pictures. It was pretty cold compared to all the other days.
