MWRT – 2025 – Relocating to East Entrance of Glacier NP
Going To The Sun Road and Hidden Lake Trail
The weather was great and a sun shiny day ahead as we hoped our return to Logan’s Pass would yield a parking spot so that we could hike the Hidden Lake Trail. Crossing to the east side of the park, we would stay in a small cabin near Babb MT just a few miles from the Many Glacier park entrance. As I write this post, we have already stayed 2 nights and moved on to stay at Summit Mountain Lodge near the East Glacier Two Medicine entrance. I finally have a WIFI connection again to sync to the iCloud and retrieve a few photos. There is absolutely no cellular signal in the vast area of the Glacier National Park, not for my Verizon phone nor my Ford Connect signal through ATT.
Getting a parking spot was like playing musical chairs as dozens of vehicles kept circling the parking lot with us until someone came to pull out of a space. There were some industrious folks who sent out scouts to seek out groups returning to their car. This often panned out but not always as we witnessed a three way wrestling match for a space where scout was standing next to the car as it pulled away but the space was poached by a third party before her car could make it’s way back to the spot. Good gracious, a bit of an argument ensued as we were able to move along, finding our own spot appear out of nowhere almost immediately.
Our hike to Hidden Lake began and it was so worth the effort.

The beauty of the park was on full display as we traveled.

As we stopped for a tailgate picnic, we were visited by some intimidating Big Horn Sheep. Three large mature males came out of the surrounding trees to slowly wander right past our feet with only the short stone wall separating them from us. Kathy got a little nervous as the biggest one came a bit closer than the others. I think our picnic basket was attracting them. It was somewhat of a thrill for us, leaving us a bit speechless until they had wandered out of site once again.

We continued our travels and arrived in Babb for the next leg of our journey. The little cabin was nestled in a small clearing of woods with a creek running behind it. There were many types of trees and shrubs including the Black Chokeberry bush next to our cabin where an American Robin was feasting on the delicious berries. We enjoyed our stay including using the outdoor grill for our breakfasts of fried eggs and dinner of baked potato and ribeye steaks with a glass of red blend wine.

WOW….thanks for sharing and keep em coming. So happy for you two to be able to do this together.
Blessings.
